![]() | R&B Band(first audition in 27 yrs) I auditioned last night for a job in an R&B band. I tore off a phone # at our local music store. Had stopped in for a new music stand and brush's for my drummer daughter. I called the # and talked to Bob. He said the piano player just switched over from accordian, meet at 6 and we will have a go. No music mind you. I am a pretty good reader and awful at improv. Well the bass player sang along with the drummer. The lead guitar was great and rythm real good. The drummer had a good sound. They played 15 or so tunes ,I got in the occasional Ba-ba dup. Joined in on some blues changes. And then it happened. Black Magic Woman, in a key that was right for me. We actually got off the ground on the first go. The piano player is great. Smiles all around. Man what fun. These guys are pretty good, I just hope I can cut it and fit in. It's not lead in a big band, but it will do. Practice next Tues. Sounds weird, and I am fired up. Dave |
