Random question, where does one look for an English to Chinese MUSIC dictionary?

The title says it all. I'm looking for an English to Chinese music dictionary. So far online sources have been less than helpful. Many instrument names and terms cannot be found. If anyone knows where I can get a near comprehensive dictionary, please help out.

Thanks in advance,
Daniel Lan

Google is my best friend........

Re: Random question, where does one look for an English to Chinese dictionary?

Thanks but I already checked Google (and i checked the links here too). All of those sources lack the translations a lot of words. For example, the 5 voice parts (Sop, Alt, Ten, Bar, Bass) are all translated to female high and low voices and male high, middle, and low voices, respectively. Other range divisions are non-existent and several instruments names, flugelhorn and cimbasso just to name a few, can't be found either.

I was actually looking for a book version though; one that is specifically a music dictionary rather than a regular dictionary.

Re: Random question, where does one look for an English to Chinese dictionary?

You will find that the Asian languages, in general, do not have a technical element. I have a Chinese friend who, when he speaks Chinese, can be expected to interpose an English word because there is no comparable word in Chinese. I listened (eavesdropping ) to him speaking to his Chinese wife earlier today - she had the car in for service only to find that the "battery" and "alternator" had both failed - the only words I understood in their conversation were - yes you've guessed it - "battery" and "alternator". I've worked with this bloke for 20 years, and it has always been the same - he worked as an aircraft engineering instructor in Hong Kong before migrating to Oz. So best of luck with your search.

Actually there's a word for battery, 电池, and alternator is 交流发电机. For some strange reason it's become a habit of Chinese-Americans to use English words in the middle of sentences. Anyways, if any users from China are on here, it would be especially helpful if I learned how to communicate musical terms in Chinese.
