Re: Saddam execution on you tube via camera cell phone

Who would really have interest in this getting out: the good guys trying to get some peace into Iraq or the bad guys trying to keep emotions cooking?
I really do not think publishing this is a good idea. Just another example of how leaky security is over there................. Want to bet some manipulated versions with visible americans are making the rounds in the unfriendly parts of the world?
The free world does not understand what makes these people tick!

Well, from what I've heard on the news, the hangmen are taunting him before the deed and dancing a jig around him afterwards. That's great for keeping that Sunni/Shiitte rivalry going.

Re: Saddam execution on you tube via camera cell phone

I doubt those people will ever be at peace with the free-world countries, let alone one another. There culture is simply too deeply rooted in violence and rivalry. Look at them, they're fighting with all their surrounding neighbors including their own people. It's sad.

And hanging Saddam will not resolve anything in their minds., Now he is a martyr for their cause.

I am not saying I disagree with killing Saddam, but the US and Iraq were screwed either way. Now, things will have to ride themselves out, and it's going to take a long time to settle down.

Those people remind me of a large flock of sheep; too stupid to think of anything on their own. They need someone to tell them when to revolt en masse.

Re: Saddam execution on you tube via camera cell phone

He died much too humanely in my opinion. All I saw was a frightened old man facing death, have a huge noose put around his neck, pushed forward and then he fell down the shoot. From the looks of things his neck broke cleanly. I know he has done horrible things, etc. but it is still difficult to watch "death", let alone cheer it on or feel any satisfaction. I honestly think it accomplished NOTHING, NADDA, ZILCH. Perhaps an emotional bandage for a few families whom he tortured, but for most, I don't think his execution will make a difference.

"If everyone took an eye for an eye, all the world would be blind". I think allowing him to martyr himself (as is the case in his religion) was a huge mistake. He should be left with photos of all those whom he tortured, with recordings of the wailings of mothers who have lost their children at his hands. For the rest of his days.

I was thinking along those very same lines Glenn. Saturate him with the pain he caused so many, and let him live through it over and over again. THAT would have been "justice" in my opinion. Either way, it is all meaningless now. He is gone.

I will say that I had not witnessed a clip of the execution with sound playing until MSNBC just broadcast part of it. It takes on a more barbaric color with sound. Brrrrrrr.
