![]() ![]() ![]() | Safe Toys for Kids and Toys from China I can only image the dangers of the toys I was playing with back many years ago. Who knows how much lead paint was on those thing. Now it seems like all the news talks about is DANGEROUS toys from China. |

![]() | Re: Safe Toys for Kids and Toys from China it seems as if most of the toys I played with as a kid are not available today - slingshots, lawn darts, the rockets you filled with water and pumped up to blast off, the little rockets you put a cap in and threw when it hit on its nose it made the cap fire, pea shooters,my favorite the dreaded BB gun, ect. I guess that by todays standard I should either be maimed or dead. I wish that I had those people watching out for me when I was young, I am very fortunate to be here today. Dave

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Safe Toys for Kids and Toys from China Exactly Dave On the news last night was some toy that if you swallow parts of it will release the smae chemical in the "date rape" drug. Now I can see taking that off the market. But just thinking about the crap that was on the toys back when we were kids. Not to mention the kinds of toys we were playing with. sling shots, bb guns, etc. |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Safe Toys for Kids and Toys from China I've heard that some big-bands have started replacing their lead trumpets with less toxic ones!

Don't they have adequate QC as required by the countries where they sell the products? We have safety rules from more than just America! Aren't production changes authorized first? Did America get shipped product that was earmarked for Europe (where product safety is not as big an issue)? Are the Chinese the culprits or just doing what they are told. I know what the companies that moved production off shore in the first place want us to believe...................... Did somebody fall asleep or are they outright LYING. Recalls come only when you get caught! I have a hard time blaming only the Chinese............................

![]() ![]() | Re: Safe Toys for Kids and Toys from China Lead paint has been banned in the United States for nearly 50 years. You have to eat the paint in order to get lead poisoning. Lead oxide is sweet and children would eat the paint off the walls in the old days. Lead oxide has been replaced by titanium oxide. There is more titanium oxide used in pigments than in the entire worlds manufacture of aircraft. That is a lot of paint. Children in inner city St. Louis still have to undergo testing for lead poisoning. The problem will never be solved. I think Mattel is in big trouble and so are the Chinese. Both parties should know better.
