![]() | Re: Scams of the past http://www.trumpetmaster.com/vb/f142...ano-22996.html This was the first one. Note the first letter of each word in the title. It was going pretty well until Jack D let the cat out of the bag. Make sure and read all the replies. Pretty ironic stuff if you get to it all. ![]() | Re: Scams of the past My favorite part of the retirement joke was this... "I don't know man... this gig just keeps getting harder and harder. I have a special horn that weighs about 25 pounds that Dave is making for me that he says ought to make the gig easier. I haven't seen the pictures but it has handles on either side and a tripod with some small sculptures of great players on to keep me inspired. Valves are operated in some revolutionary way. It's all very hush-hush... he'd probably be annoyed if he knew I was talking about it so, keep it between you and me okay? I really don't want to get the guy mad. The last time I did, he secretly had extra spicy curry sereved to me at one of our favorite Indian places and man, I learned my lesson." http://www.trumpetmaster.com/vb/f142...res-22997.html Jason.

![]() | Re: Scams of the past The "Octave-eye-zer" is a pretty good one. I half believed it at first based on stuff I've talked to Dave about regarding looking out into the room when you play. I think connecting to a large room visually is a part of the mental game of playing. It's like delivering a speech and being aware of how big the room is. You do things instinctively to achieve more resonance so you can be heard without screaming. rather, you relax and use the fundamentals of your voice to help project outward. I think trumpet playing is very similar. It's like that whole thread we had a few months ago about playing "softer" so you could be heard above the orchestra. Obviously it isn't about softer, it's about greater efficiency and thicker air. Anyways, that's all to say I overthought it and felt like an idiot when I saw the video and realized it was an April Fool scam. ML |
