Is it the server?

Dear everybody,

I seem to have problems with very slow response when I click the mouse on this web site. I would use the term,"my computer locks up." I have high speed DSL. I use zone alarm for a firewall. I often have to close the windows using the task manager and reopen.

Are any of you having the same problem?

Same here, St. C.. Maybe you're right, it could be the server. I haven't had any problems since mid-winter when we were all experiencing slow loading time.

I too have the problem.

Especially if I have the chatroom open and the website in two different windows.

Also sometimes I open a link in the forums and it "freezes".

It has slowed down for me on occasion as well. As a computer tech I can tell you how to determine if its your system or the site. Next time the site begins to load a page slowly open up a new window and load a different website at the same time. If the second window runs at full speed then it is the site, if not then you have some sort of a connection problem on your end. When it loads slow for me the other pages I have open respond just fine. So for me its a issue with the server, probably with you as well. The server is not having problems it just slows down a bit when its trying to process alot of different requests at the same time. Give it a couple seconds to catch up to itself and you'll be fine.

I guess that means that we're just getting more popular

I will try the open new window trick.
I think it is a problem with my computer. I may have loaded up some temporary files and not deleted. Bad housekeeping on my part.

It doesn't work. I opened up a window and all it did was make the house colder. So, I opened another and stuff started blowing around. Lousy idea.

You're supposed to make sure your firewalls are in place first. They stop the unwanted effects.

The problem can be manifold. If 50 to a 100 are on line at the same time AND anybody is up/downloading pictures to the TM site, the response time will go down noticably.
This could also be the time and place for a conspiracy theory! Competitive site trying to hack us, backlash from April 1, banned users retaliating.
I do notice slow from time to time, but that is true of almost any web sites. Haven't had any lock-ups yet.

One additional things you may try is to "delete the temporary files" in your browser. That can cause performance issues also.

Should also look here to find other files junking up your system.

Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>DiskCleanUp...
