Somewhere over the rainbow

I just wanted to share this photo with everyone. Last Saturday I was strolling the boardwalk on the coast of the North Sea (Noord Zee) in Middlekerke, Belgium and saw this rainbow. Beautiful, eh?

Beautiful photos, Alex. BTW...one of my favorite tunes is Somewhere Over the Rainbow. I'll share the story a bit later...

Beautiful Alex

Often times you can be just walking and come upon something like that...that just stops you dead in your tracks as you say "Wow!

Looks like one of those moments.

Welcome home!

Thank you for the warm welcome back everyone! Yes, Chuck, it was indeed one of those moments. Believe it or not it was the SECOND rainbow I witnessed that day. The first was over the deep, rich green fields of the Belgian countryside. On this particular day, we drove from the border of Belgium where it intersects with Germany and the Netherlands and drove across the entire Vlaanderen (Flanders) region to the opposite coast, which is the North Sea. Petre and I were taking a post-lunch stroll and talking about all that is trumpet when I stopped dead in my tracks upon seeing this beautiful rainbow shooting out of the water. I wanted to touch it, it was so vibrant and alive. I must have taken ten pictures of it and can't wait to have a nice print made. It definitely deserves a place on the wall.

The vibe in that area is very special. Once you have passed the condos, opposite the sea are the dunes. The Howitzer's from WW II still sit untouched. It is sacred ground and a stark reminder of the past. There are many American soldiers buried there as well.
