What a loss. We no longer have the incredible versatility and performance abilities of one of the truly great musicians.

When I found that out, it pretty much ruined my day, and I'm not sure why.

I guess it is that to me, he has alway held this legendary status in my mind, and when our living legends pass on, it brings home the fact that my time here is limited as well. It's also an indication that we are approaching the end of an era.

Many of the greats of the 20th century are knocking on the doorway to the last phases of their lives, and the thought of that saddens me. I can't imagine a world without the likes of Timofei Dokshizer. Of course there is a list of people in that category, but I'm in no hurry to rush any more of those greats into their final resting places, so I will refrain from naming them, but suffice it to say, we are going to have to come up with a new crop of trumpeting idols in the next 10 years or so.

May he rest in peace and may his family find comfort in their time of need.
