Tommy: The Movie

OK, I'm dating myself, but I really liked The Who's 1969 Tommy, and the soundtrack of the 1975 Tommy:The Movie, but I only last night got to see it for the first time. I liked it. In 1975 Ann-Margret was 34 (and hot!), Jack Nicholson had hair, Elton John was losing his; Keith Moon and John Entwistle were still alive. I thought Ken Russell did a good job putting pictures to the music. Cool thing is, it was originally mixed in Quintaphonic Sound, and I assume it would sound fantastic on a home theater system.

Reading some reviews of the movie on the internet, however, a lot of people thought it sucked.

Any thoughts from the folks at TM?

Tommy, the very first movie I saw after leaving school (I thought for ever - how wrong was that thought) - yes I too quite enjoyed it - and Ann Margaret was good in Beau Geste too.

Remember Ann Margaret in the movie "Magic" - about a ventriloquist and his dummy? It was better than it sounds . . . and it had a very hot Ann Margaret (odd, I can't remember anyone else that was in it . . .).

She sang as good as she looked with Al Hirt too! She got Jumbo to sing too!

I saw that show. I knew the soundman and brought earplugs because I knew what I was in for. It was loud through the earplugs.
