| New Friend | Trombone Price... I aquired a beautiful Mount Vernon Bach Trombone. Here is the information: Bach 36B Mt. Vernon Era 4XXX 1953 Original case Does anyone know what I should be asking for this kind of horn?

Here's an email thread, dating from 2004, suggesting a minimum price of $1200 for a Bach 36B trombone with a serial number of 6974: http://www.trombone.org/trombone-l/a...404/040411.txt. However, in the thread it's described as a New York Bach, which doesn't fly with that serial number. Your trombone is so close to the transition from the Bronx to Mt. Vernon that even if the bell is engraved Mt. Vernon, I'd play up how soon after the move it was made. The 36 is, unfortunately, something of a step-child in the Bach trombone range. It is one of the most versatile models in the line, but high school and college teachers push their students to the .547-bore horns.

| New Friend | Re: Trombone Price... Thank you for the information. The fact that the horn was so close to the Bronx Factory will be a great selling point, I believe. I do know the horn was made in 1953, so it was in the first year of the Mount Vernon production.
