Two Weeks! Ahhh!!!
Two weeks from tomorrow I'm shipping out to boot camp.



That just hit me.



I'm excited...though, it's not going to be fun, it's going to be TOTALLY worth it!

They're called "Company Commanders" in the Navy. Most of them, at the time I went through, were Machinist Mates nearing retirement.

Thanks for the correction! Machinist Mates are good friends to make if you want any work done on your mouthpiece or trumpets -- you could even have them make a silencer for 40 Cal!

I wish you luck.
I'll be attending the Grand Celebration of Bands on June 16 in Cedar Rapids. I think that is too soon for you to be out of boot camp. Maybe in the Fall before you go back to school we can organize a Trumpet Master Midwest in Cedar Rapids. It isn't too far for Manny and maybe we can get a bunch of people to show up and barbecue on a saturday.

I'm actually a Seaman Apprentice...one level up from recruit. I got extra credits from being so ahead in college with my college semester hours (I'm technically a sophomore.)!

But I'll bet they didn't tell you that you don't get the promotion until after recruit training is over. Everyone is a Seaman Recruit (E1) while in training
