![]() | VA Tech horror http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,266374,00.html This is beyond horrible and I'm so sad about it. This could have been my child. Do we have any TMers there? G-d help the families of the murdered and please take care of the wounded. ML |

![]() | Re: VA Tech horror Yes, Brek... many things need to be explained such as why there were three hours that lapsed between the first shot and the rest. I don't understand why the school wasn't locked down. All I'm saying is that I don't understad and assume there's a rational explanation. Now I'm starting to hear about a bomb scare earlier this month. I don't have cable, so, I'm depending on my usual radio show analysts to keep me informed. ML |

![]() | Re: VA Tech horror From American Poet, Dylan Thomas Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Though wise men at their end know dark is right, Because their words had forked no lightning they Do not go gentle into that good night. Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight, And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way, Do not go gentle into that good night. Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light. And you, my father, there on the sad height, Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray. Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Don't deny yourselves the anger this horror merits. You're going to hear plenty about "healing". To hell with it. I'm sad and angry and don't want to hear about healing just yet. ML |

![]() ![]() | Re: VA Tech horror As a teacher in huge public school (we've got over 4400 high school kids) I am stunned to hear of things like this. The lack of lock down doesn't completely surprise me. This is a COLLEGE - secondary school. They don't have the same rigors a public high school is subjected to. Since Columbine we have instituted elaborate lock-down procedures and have had many drills. We also have a lot of parapros working the halls, as well as a full time armed plain clothes policeman. However, this isn't the case for a college or university. As to what we can do about this... For my part, I'm going to pray for everyone involved. We all have different faiths and prayer may take on different forms for each of us, but this is something to be done. I don't believe this is a silly thing to do. I believe it is powerful and necessary. Many people will be feeling a lot of pain and out collective thoughts and prayers can be brought to bear on this. It is very easy to become fearful and believe that no place is truly safe. We have to fight the fear or the bad guys win. I would fight anger as well, imho. There is a fine line between anger and fear. Tough times, though. Peace! Nick Drozdoff

![]() | Re: VA Tech horror I can't believe I didn't find out until maybe 15 minutes ago. Manny, you stole the words from my mouth. "horrified", upset, troubled, shocked...all those things. I can't even grasp what I'm trying to articulate. I can't even begin to imagine if I were in that situation. Lord Jesus, help us all.

![]() | Re: VA Tech horror I'm very saddened and horrified by this event today. I always see school as a place for personal growth, education, friendship etc.. When a nightmare like this occurs, it shatters our comfort zones and strikes us hard where we least expect it to happen. To all who have children, family and friends at Virginia Tech, you will be in my prayers, and the prayers of our local congregation tonight. God bless and strenghten you all. Sincerely, James P. |
