![]() ![]() | VOIP (internet phone) question random computer/phone question: I have Vonage as my land line and for the most part I'm happy with it, but recently whenever I hang up, the phone rings a couple of times. When I pick up there's nothing. It happens regularly. I know I should just call Vonage, but they outsource all their call centers to India and it's impossible to actually hold a conversation with any of their representatives. Thanks, Jimi

| Mezzo Forte User | Re: VOIP (internet phone) question The re-ring seems to happen when a circuit is not shut all the way. Somehow when you hang up, the circuit is not closing and it'll re-ring you to get you back on the line. Weird, but true. You're either HAVE to call them and learn to speak Indiglish, or get a new phone. I have Cingular (now ATT) and love 'em. If you are using straight VOIP, there are numerous other programs that you use for free provided both parties have the same program. As far as I know, Vonage is not a VOIP.

![]() ![]() | Re: VOIP (internet phone) question Bear, Thanks for the advice. When you say that the circuit isn't closing, do you mean my actual phone (a regular $20 phone from Target) or my Vonage equipment? I'm pretty sure Vonage is VOIP... it's basically a little box that I plug an ethernet cable and a phone into. Maybe I've got my terminology mixed up. -Jimi

![]() ![]() | Re: VOIP (internet phone) question Not to digress but I will. Does your VOIP allow you to have 911 service? Can the dispatcher identify your street address with VOIP?
