![]() | In my home town of New Ulm, Minnesota, a guy tried to fill someone's car with water using his garden hose because they parked in front of his house. You can spot him on warm summer mornings sweeping the street in his bathrobe. He's friendly, but just don't park in front of his house.

![]() | You got to watch out for those career Navy types. They are fastidious.I have a friend from our sailing organization who is a retired Navy Master Chief. when he came aboard my boat in 2004, he spent the time inspecting my boat and showing me hidden spaces, where I could stow a few pairs of "skivvies" and socks. I told him I was career Army and that the first thing I learned was to get rid of our "skivvies" and that I rarely wore socks on board. His boat had all the newest forms of electronic gear, which required him to locate a large space for "house batteries" (large battery banks). I told him that I was a Luddite and used a compass, a hand held gps, charts, a hand bearing compass, and a small polaris. That way, if my engine went, which it has done a few times, then the batteries wouldn't be drained, and I could still navigate. Oh, by the way, I don't have a lawn, just wood chips, gravel and flower beds. Gary Lapine
