Warning!!! This is what happened to me.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is but a hypothesis. But it is the best explanation I can come up with. I want to thank Tom Turner, Bruce Lee and John MacGregor for their help. Hope you don't mind me posting your names guys. I posted a picture here on TM's Lounge. The picture was a silly parody of children's books. Had a couple of responses to the post. I was in a hurry and I just posted the url with the [i mg][/ img]
brackets. I forgot to delete the url after the thread had run its course. The owner of the site decided he didn't like me using his picture (bandwidth reasons) and changed the content of the url. This explains why the the post was benign until recently. IT IS MY FAULT. Proper internet etiquet requires that if one is going to use another's uncopyrighted picture that one must first download the image into one's computer. Then the image can be uploaded to the poster's website and then used in posts on forums, etc. That way the original owner's bandwidth isn't wasted. As you know some people on the internet can be pretty malicious. The original owner of a pic may change the content of the url. Hence a url showing a picture of a book can be switched by the original owner into porn. The unknowing poster's thread will then show the porn pic instead of the original photo. I hope this makes sense. It is very very embarrasing for me to have this happen due to my error. But I thought it might be informative to the group if I posted about it. From here on if i post a picture it will be a one that I have downloaded and then uploaded to my own website. I offer my sincerest apologies to any were offended by the disgusting pic.

Tim

Tim, as far as I'm concerned your apology AND your explanation are accepted. I do recall seeing the "questionable" picture but since I seldom go back and reread the whole darn forum..... I forgot all about it. Only when I was asked if I had anything to do with deleting the thread did I remember the picture.

By the way... just so that everyone knows .... moderators can ONLY delete messages in forums for which they are specifically responsible. I cannot delete or edit outside of "Wild West", nor can say... Tom Turner delete in "Wild West". Only the site owner and Administrator have "global" privileges.... and I think I like it like that. TM set the site up like this so that slammers can't go into say the Schilke forum and start raising stink.... nor can Callichio fans go into the Zeus forum and upset the folks over there. It's a good idea and so far it's working.

Cudos to ya, TM... wherever you are.

Hi Tim,

Glad that I could be of help! As soon as I opened that thread, I realized that there was no way that you could possibly have been responsible. For as long as I have known you, you have been a class act on this, or any other, forum that I have frequented.

In fact, your only character flaw that I'm aware of is that you admit to having a trumpet buddy in Lakeland, FL

John MacGregor
Waukesha, WI

PS That was a joke, Dan
