| Fortissimo User | Waterton Park; Easter Sunday So the day dawns bright and sunny and I decide to take Mrs and Dizzy down to Waterton Park for the day. It was georgous down there: the temperature reached 64 and not a cloud to be seen. The approach to the park: Cowboy Country ![]() We even let Dizzy drive... notice how he leans into the corner but throws Mrs to the edge of her seat? Good thing she's wearing a seat belt. ![]() Well, after he lets me back behind the wheel we see the Prince of Wales Hotel. Kind of neat, isn't it? ![]() |

| Forte User | Re: Waterton Park; Easter Sunday Back in about 93 or 94 my family went on a holiday there. What an incredible park. We were lucky enough to know someone who owned a cottage there so we got it for a few weeks. I think there is only about 50 people who live there year round. I loved it because I was about 11 years old and I could walk anywhere without supervision, and there were plenty of deers and wildlife to watch. There was also a great candy store there. I did a horseback trail riding thing a few times, and took a boat across to the US and back. We also climbed one of the big peaks, maybe it was one called mohawk or tomahawk or something. I still have a poster in my basement of the town. |

| Fortissimo User | Re: Waterton Park; Easter Sunday The next thing you know we're in town and come across this gaggle of muleys. Looks like one wants to see if we have anything to eat. ![]() Yep, this one is definitely headed our way. (don't forget... the dog is in the back seat of the car!) ![]() Hey... got anything for me? (just before it licks the steering wheel and sniffs around the light switch!) ![]() At this point I pull the car ahead a bit and stop to take pictures of the rest of the gang... the dang thing decides it isn't finished and comes up behind and checks us out again! (While Mrs is desperately trying to put the leash on Dizzy so he doesn't go through the window... he has not yet even seen the deer because he's looking out the other side of the car! I'm too close for a GOOD picture and have to hold the camera out across to her side and shoot back "blind") We don't have to shoot deer... we just punch 'em in the head a couple of times. ![]() No? Nothing to eat? OK... heck with you then. ![]() |

| Fortissimo User | Re: Waterton Park; Easter Sunday Cameron Falls and some of the oldest rocks known to man. ![]() Deer aren't the only thing that frequent the townsite: here's a young Bighorn; life is easy downtown! ![]() A short trip up towards Cameron Lake. That mountain in the background is just across the border in Glacier National Park, Montana. ![]() On the way home we saw a herd of elk (but too far away for decent photography) and a bald eagle. Fun day. |

![]() ![]() | Re: Waterton Park; Easter Sunday I haven't been to Waterton since I was in grade school. Your photos bring back fond memories. Now others can see why I will rent a Class C motor home for the ITG conference in Banff. I told the boss I'll be taking off five weeks next year. Thank You for the posts.
