| Fortissimo User | Well, It's only Friday (long, pointless story) It's only Friday evening and the weekend is a success already! About two weeks ago I had the old dishwasher "blow up" on me. Sparks and smoke came flying out the door when I tried to start it. Since it was 20 years old I figured "OK, time the rrrrrregiment rrrrreplaced". Ran down the friendly local Home Depot and ordered up a new one. Came home and went online to download the installation manual (amazing what you can find on the internet!), then started measuring the counter. Turns out the one I'd ordered was too high to fit under the counter! (always measure BEFORE ordering!). YIKES. First thing Saturday morning off I go back to Home Depot to change the order. Switch the order to a different make (same price, different design) and then back home to await the mandatory "10-day delivery leadtime". It was supposed to arrive on Tuesday of this week. On Monday I had a phone call "it's here". Arranged for delivery, they dropped it off at 5 pm Monday evening and then the truck left with the packing material. Within 30 minutes I'm trying to figure out how the heck to fit a 34.5" tall dishwasher under a 33.5" tall kitchen counter! (underside). On the phone to Home Depot... turns out that they'd forgotten to cancel the original order when they wrote out the change order! The salesman said "If you'd kept your mouth shut you'd have ended up with two dishwashers for the price of one... the other one is on it's way to you now!". I said "I don't want two dishwasers... I only want one that fits!" Thursday they dropped off the proper one. We had a gig to play at a school last night so it sat in the garage until I got home from work this afternoon. Two hours later and we now have a working dishwasher and NO NEED TO HANDWASH DISHES for another few years! (Although I must admit they were a lot cleaner when washed by hand! Just can't seem to get it through teenagers' thick skulls that it's a good idea to RINSE before loading!). (Lordy, are those things every ugly to try to install... laying flat out on the kitchen floor reaching in through a 4" high space trying to line up and tighten the swagenut on a hot water supply line! Grrrrr. They must design for midgets!) Yahooo... time for a rum 'n' coke. |
