| Piano User | What to do? What do you do when you are a student who is upset with what is going on in your department? I can't talk about what is going on, but I can tell you it is not good.

![]() ![]() | Re: What to do? I assume you can't go to the department head. The next step is to go to the Dean of Fine Arts or music or whatever. If that doesn't work go to the Dean of Students. Then go to the Chancellor. You are working your way up the administrative ladder. Finally, go to the alumni board. The Alumni hold a lot of power.

![]() | Re: What to do? Just be careful Annie. Politics are everywhere. Remember WHY you are there. Sometimes it's better to keep your nose clean, get what you need (and paid for) and get the heck out of dodge. In other words, pick your battles. |

| Piano User | Re: What to do? Most likely, I'm not going to do anything because of that one thing - I need to graduate in a year...It's just frustrating to see the politics that are unfolding and not be able to say anything even though I have put thousands of dollars into this University...and don't have one single say in anything that goes on in it.

| Forte User | Re: What to do? Annie- Much of that depends on what is going on. You are quite vague (maybe rightfully so). Your best bet is to show up to class, lessons, bust your tail end, do what you need to do and stay out of it. If you're gone in a year, it really should not matter much. Let the faculty handle it, or let the sharks eat each other alive while you just keep swimming.

| Piano User | Re: What to do? I can say that some aspects of the department are recieving more funds and attention, while other aspects are being cut - literally. Sorry for being so vague, it's just my mom always told me to be careful what I write. Thank you so much for the replies and help.

![]() | Re: What to do? Annie, This is not to say there isn't something "fishy" going on... but even the Red Cross is run like a business. Meaning the bottom line usually dictates everything. There may be other things going on that you may not be aware of. For one, sometimes donations come with a condition... i.e. a millionaire alumni sang in the choir and wants X amount of his donation to go towards the choir. Just making assumptions here... Hang in there. Rogerio |

![]() | Re: What to do? Well you mom has given you good advice. I remember a teacher telling me long ago just after she intercepted a note I had written in grade school. She told me NEVER put anything in writing you don't intend for the whole world to see. She then promptly read my note to the whole class. How embarassed I was as she said aloud things that were only intended for my best friends eyes. Lesson learned!
