Who are the people that post here?

For the most part we know who we are talking to but,
every now and then I wonder.

Sometimes the guy just knows to much.
Then there is the guy that has 2 posts and is ripping apart a trumpet or trumpet maker.

There is the one that has a hundred posts or so and has creditability and then posts some wild thing and starts a fight and never comes back.

I think some day I'm going to start a forum and to join you have to use your real name and prove who you are.

I wonder how many people on here are really one person with three different names?

Re: Who are the people that post here?

I had a teacher tell me that I had a split personality once; He told me I was half crazy and half stupid. Does this count?

All kidding aside; I've sometimes wondered the very same thing.....

Re: Who are the people that post here?

I'm really me, and I have to watch what I say, because I'm using my real name. I probably author an off-the-wall post now and then, but it's usually when I'm up too late reading this junk......er, I mean, fine informative information.

I'd like to know the ages and playing experience of some of the "experts" who post here, although the bad advice isn't nearly as rampant here as on another unnamed site I frequent. All in all, TM is a good site with a lot of players better than me giving advice, most of it good.

When I joined TM this was a hostile place and I would have never given my name but now if I could change the B15M to me I would.

I believe you can change your ID if you talk nicely to Admin. Of course, there is nothing to stop you from putting your real name into a signature line neither.

Re: Who are the people that post here?

Everybody knows me - how could they not?

Never afraid to tell someone they're full of crap - and don't care if people think I am, which isn't far from the truth!

Yeah, I know what you mean. The ones that really get me are the ones who post under a cutesy name like TrumpetFreek111, start throwing out tons of unsolicited advice and then a few months later let it slip that they are really looking forward to Senior high marching band next year - WTF?!

Re: Who are the people that post here?

If I used my real name, nobody would know me

Even some of you guys who actually do know me still refer to me as Trumpetmike - if I phone Eclipse and use my real name, they NEVER know who I am.

My real name is known by many and I am more than willing to let it be known to those who don't know it - but it won't help, I will still be Trumpetmike to most

Re: Who are the people that post here?

Nothing to hide here. You can even look up my callsign on QRZ.com
and get the GPS coordinates of my home.

A world famous trumpet player (name will remain undisclosed)
told me that he participates in these forums (TPIN, TH, TM) under a
psuedonym so that he can freely ask questions without anyyone one freaking
out that [name of famous trumpet player] is asking such a question
that "any fool" should know the answer to.

So be careful when responding to
"UltimateFighter_KungFuTrumpetGeek__oooooaaahhhhh! ",
you might be offering up your "wisdom" to [???].

Re: Who are the people that post here?

I brought this up a while back... and would still like to see everyone use their real names.

I usually do a quick search on the ones that do use their real names and try to find out a little more about them.

And to be honest with you... humility goes a long way for me. You'll find that those who know the most usually know there is much more to know... and are humbled by it.

Kinda like money... usually those individuals that try so hard to show they have lots of money usually have the least (or the greatest debt). It's the folks that drive old Honda's and live in a modest homes... they wear Kirkland clothes and only take one vacation a year...

I'm a big fan of Wilmer Wise on this forum. Sorry for the pun, but when you read his posts they are short, sweet and full of wisdom.
