You must melt the snow immediately.
The global warming police will be dispatched forthwith if the snow remains past March 15th.

Re: Winter in the foot hills of Maine

I wished it would melt, there is about 4 feet in the fields now . On Wednesday they are calling for up to 1/2" of freezing rain.

Re: Winter in the foot hills of Maine

We are in the midst of a snow storm as I write this. There is a foot of snow on the ground. For the midwest, this winter has been a return to normal. Lots of snow and rain to make up for past draught.

The subsurface moisture should make lots of corn this summer and the winter wheat crop should be exceptional.

Wow - I grew up in ME, and I don't miss that at all! My husband , however, would be in snowboarding heaven! He grew up in Miami and doesn't understand what a pain it is to live in the snow, as opposed to just playing in it........

Amen sister ! My 1st season in the Sierra Nevada (Tahoe) was big fun. I would scrape up every odd snowflake while shovelling, and thinking what fun this was . THAT changed in a big hurry. Snow piled a dozen feet high, icicles large enough to cave your scull in...
Truly a winter wonderland. Fun for the 1st few times, and then the
relentless nature of it starts to wear on you. It can be great fun, and a huge mess too.
Especially in early spring, when all of the crap that they throw on the road starts becoming airborn.
I do miss snowmobiling though ...

Re: Winter in the foot hills of Maine

Yeah, I will admit I miss ice skating on a lake - cheaper than having to go to the rink! I still go to the rink pretty regularly - better than not skating at all! I sure don't miss shoveling or getting up early to clean off the car and make sure it starts, though! I also don't miss having to look at the snow when it gets all dirty and gross beside the road - yuck.

Re: Winter in the foot hills of Maine

Now it's not that bad, just that this winter it started early and hasn't stopped.
