Would you go?

I've been home sick all week. I'm still not any better...I can't hear properly, my entire head feels like it's about to explode, and I can't breathe without coughing my head off.

I have an Orchestra Festival that I'm supposed to go to today and tomorrow. Today is the rehearsal, tomorrow is rehearsal and performance.

I barely got through my 1/2 hour lesson last night...and it hurts to play because my face just starts throbbing up around my nose.

The thing is, this is something I signed up to do months ago...

Would you go or stay home? I feel horrible, and I can't talk much either because my voice is really really hoarse. But...I don't want to make my school look bad by not showing up. I really don't know what to do.

Lara

Manny Laureano has a spectacular aura about
Stay home but by all means, call the people in charge immediately. Can we assume that there are multiples on each part since it's a festival? If not, they'll figure something out, trust me. Even if a teacher has to sub in for you, they'll figure it out. Maybe you'll feel better by tomorrow if you stay home today.

I'm pretty sure that there are multiples on every part...I had first trumpet for one piece and then 3rd for another, and my friend (another trumpet player) was also 3rd on the same piece I am.

It's kids from all around the Cedar Rapids Metro area...

I'm staying home. My dad kinda told me I was. I just emailed my director (who went home right after Wind Symphony yesterday because he's really sick too.) and told him I wouldn't be there.

Thank you!

Lara

I'm with Manny - stay home, get some rest and do what you can to feel better. I know that you want to go to this thing, but why push it and maybe make yourself sicker?

Nah, catch the next one - there is nothing wrong with bowing out on something like that if you are really under the weather.

Lara,

Stay home, get well.

You don't want to be known sa that girl who came last year and got everyone sick.

There will be more oppertunities for you, I'm sure.

Ditto the above. Seems to me you've had several really bad colds or flues in the last couple of years since you started hanging out with trumpet players. You sure it isn't the company?

bandman will become famous soon enough
I agree with the others -- stay home and get well, but let them know ASAP.

I had a child last year that got sick at festival. Her illness caused much more trouble than if she had just stayed at home.

Same story here Lara,

Just make sure that you've reported your impending absence so that your parts can be filled and get well.

Your young enough that you'll have many, many more opportunities to play in you life so you IE. your health must come first.

And as Chuck pointed out the health of others.

Get rested!
