MK Drawing 525 vs Mount Vernon Leadpipe

I'm interested in either installing a 525 leadpipe or MT Vernon leadpipe on a Bach 37 from MK Drawing. Any opinions on which one to get? Horn is used for orchestral playing.

Re: 525 vs MTV-NV Leadpipe

He will send you both on a trial. I like the 525 much more - I found it to be more open and with better intonation. The MTV seemed to make my sound "darker" and I thought the intonation was worse. I was using these leadpipes on a Mount Vernon Bb as well.

Having said that, I think that those leadpipes help the horn project, especially older horns. At the same time, the change didn't seem as drastic as when I put on a Blackburn leadpipe/tuning slide (but that was a different instrument).

Talk to Charlie Melk about it, he is a nice guy and knows alot about this stuff. Best of luck,

Matt
