Re: Aftermarket Bell

Repair shops that deal with Conn-Selmer (or whatever they call themselves now) can order bells for you. Plus, repair shops (even small ones) sometimes have bells and things laying around. It never hurts to ask. THey show up on Ebay sometimes too.

Re: Aftermarket Bell

If you are talking about your C trumpet, Osmun makes a 229 and 239 bells, see below (from THe oTHer site).

Quote:
We have some wonderful 239 and 229 copies in the tradition of MT. Vernon Bach bells with the single seam on the side, soldered brass bell wire and a square crook bend. We have had very positive comments from our customers that have had these bells installed on their Bach C trumpets including George Coble, Principal trumpet of the Syracuse Symphony. He particularly liked how much better the pitch was with our 239 bell compared to his Elkhart Bach 239 bell.

We charge $375.00 for our bells and the 239 is availble for C and bent to fit Schilke Eb length and crook spacing. For the Eb tuning bells, hardware and installation is additional.

I hope this is helpful.

They also make the French bead bell:

Quote:
The "French" or half round bell wire you are asking about is availble, but adds $50.00 to the price of the bell. The fact that the bell wire is made of brass rather than steel like the Elkhart Bach bells is more significant in my opinion. However if it is worth the additional $50.00, we are happy to provide it.
