![]() | Re: Amati Piccolo trumpet I played a friends last year - really tight blow, and definitely needs the right mpc for the horn. Overall, was not bad as expected (tuning was tricky, but doable - ish), however I'd definitely recommend picking up a used mid-level picc before buying an amati new

![]() | Re: Amati Piccolo trumpet I had one, operative word is had. There are many better horns out there and it's worth getting it right, even if you don't plan on playing it 100% Bottom line is if you can't hit the note on a standard Bb you aren't going to do any better with a pic which requires a different approach. |

![]() | Re: Amati Piccolo trumpet I played one at Dick Ackright's a few years ago, and it actually played fairly well - better than the Kanstul they had there at the time. It still didn't compare with Yamaha, Getzen or Schilke in any way, but would've been ok to start out with. I would definately recommend playing before you buy with an Amati, though - with many inexpensive horns the quality will vary greatly from one to another of the same model. A quality picc really does make the job much easier, though - picc is a beast for intonation even on a quality horn, and a lesser horn is just going to mean more work for you. Save your money and buy the best quality you can afford - that's what I did with my Schilke, and I've never been sorry.
