Austin Winds?

was wondering if anyone has had any experience with austin winds trumpets? Welcome to Austin Winds - your best source for high end brass equipment. I am searching anything and everything i can find and pumping as much info as i can into my brain. i wont be looking to buy another horn for probably a year, 1. because im not ready yet and 2. im still saving $$. i just ran accross this link at brassreview, and theyre products look to be nicely built. im also liking lawlers t model (although im really diggin the copper bells and they dont seem to offer one). i know that its all gonna boil down to play testing in the end, but if i can weed out bad production quality and things like that it will make it easier for me later. probably gonna try to keep things at around 2K. i have a wife and kids and well, you know, money doesnt grow on trees i take a REALLY long time to make decisions on things like this (im very indecisive). anyway, if anyone has a heads up or suggestions on anything id appreciate it.

Re: Austin Winds?

I don't know Austin Winds, and I know little generally, so the fault is mine.

This thread tells you a little about NYTC who made me a horn recently, the NY7, and I recommend them with no scruple at all:

Re: Austin Winds?

I know what you mean-I originally was going to go for a NY model. Anyway...get in touch with Felix Vayser-he is NYTC on here, and his email is listed on the website. He'll be able to tell you more about the horns and maybe what he would recommend. My new one is going to have a beadless copper bell-I know what you mean about digging those-amazing stuff.

Mid,

I emailed Felix with nothing more than an "idea."

Cost nothing.

Best Wishes,

Richard

Re: Austin Winds?

Mid, to answer your original question, Austin Winds horns seem to be pretty good-I played a couple at TMEA this last year, and the ones I played weren't bad at all-they weren't my favorite horns of all(as you can tell from what I ordered), but don't get me wrong, they aren't bad. See if you can find a couple to try out for yourself.

Re: Austin Winds?

ill continue looking and hopefully find a place that has several horns in stock so i can try them out. 2 things that make horn comparison tough........living in central illinois and being a husband/father/full time music student while working in the evening (short on funds)
