Bach Strad Soloist Hey there, thought I'd make my first post here and try and get some info about my horn, as it's never been entirely clear I was in the market for a trumpet about one year ago and whilst staying with my parents in Memphis, went along to a local music shop (Amro). After trying a variety of horns, including a couple of Strad 37's and a Yamaha Xeno, I eventually opted for a Bach Stradivarius Soloist, a horn I hadn't previously come across. It was very free-playing with a nice bright tone and it's been great for me over the past year. However, I've been unable to find any info on them online at all. It looks like a Strad 180 and has the same engraving, including the Soloist name. Also the valve caps and fluid keys are gold plated and it came with a gold plated 3C mouthpiece. Can anyone enlighten me further as to the history of this model? Thanks, Tom.

Re: Bach Strad Soloist just a guess but may be a standard 37 that they put Soloist on for certain stores or chains. I'll be quiet and let the experts jump in now. Dave

Re: Bach Strad Soloist Is it the same as this:Meyer Music Kansas City, Kansas - Your Source for Musical Instruments, Rentals and Quality Lessons Seems like an intermediate, or step up instrument to me. Does yours have an adjustable 3rd valve slide ring?

Re: Bach Strad Soloist Thanks guys, it's great to feel welcomed and to have such immediate response Bulldog, it looks similar to the one in the image (ie, the gold plating is in all the same places) but the 3rd valve slide ring is fixed and there are two vertical braces towards the back, one on the main tuning slide and one the other side on the body. Perhaps those are the differences between the Bach Soloist and the Bach Strad Soloist? It seemed a little more open and free than the 37's they had there as well (although this could just be natural variation within the VB range), so maybe they've enlarged the bore slightly or changed the bell construction...
