![]() | Bach Strad Soloist Hey there, thought I'd make my first post here and try and get some info about my horn, as it's never been entirely clear I was in the market for a trumpet about one year ago and whilst staying with my parents in Memphis, went along to a local music shop (Amro). After trying a variety of horns, including a couple of Strad 37's and a Yamaha Xeno, I eventually opted for a Bach Stradivarius Soloist, a horn I hadn't previously come across. It was very free-playing with a nice bright tone and it's been great for me over the past year. However, I've been unable to find any info on them online at all. It looks like a Strad 180 and has the same engraving, including the Soloist name. Also the valve caps and fluid keys are gold plated and it came with a gold plated 3C mouthpiece. Can anyone enlighten me further as to the history of this model? Thanks, Tom. |

![]() | Re: Bach Strad Soloist just a guess but may be a standard 37 that they put Soloist on for certain stores or chains. I'll be quiet and let the experts jump in now. Dave

![]() | Re: Bach Strad Soloist Thanks guys, it's great to feel welcomed and to have such immediate response Bulldog, it looks similar to the one in the image (ie, the gold plating is in all the same places) but the 3rd valve slide ring is fixed and there are two vertical braces towards the back, one on the main tuning slide and one the other side on the body. Perhaps those are the differences between the Bach Soloist and the Bach Strad Soloist? It seemed a little more open and free than the 37's they had there as well (although this could just be natural variation within the VB range), so maybe they've enlarged the bore slightly or changed the bell construction... |

![]() | Re: Bach Strad Soloist I know what you are talking about, and i too, have the same horn, mine came in a black zippered case, had a gold trim consisting of gold top valve casings, bottom "heavyweight" caps, silver stem, and silver water keys, and 3rd valve stop ajustment rod with 2 stop nuts , and also had the same problem finding info, i just believed it was the bach tr200.the trumpet it looked similar just a different engravement on the bell, after more research i found a similar engravement with "bach soloist but a different trumpet.... http://www.brassreview.com/reviews/d...0156-large.JPG further more, i did entensive research and found the exact one, this model is based off the bach #37 bell engravement design although it may not have the gold trim, it is the model we have been searching for, Brass Review.com - Bach MG290 Last edited by trpteddrumaner12; 07-10-2009 at 04:34 AM. |
