BACH TR300 Questions?

I just bought a Bach TR300 Siliver for 182.00. The number stamped on the horn is E85798.

How do I find out how old the horn is. It is in decent shape with very small dings here and there. Did I get hosed?

PLEASE BE HONEST!!

Thanks

PS - Here is a link to the ebay site to see pictures of what I got. thought it may help you with feedback.

I had a tr300 about maybe 13 years ago. i paid $150.00 for it. it was a baby bach.
That sucker was a nice lil student trumpet, very open for that model and had a nice ring to it!
Now as to the question did you get hosed, i don't think so.
peace and hairgrease.
clarence.

I didn't see any link on your message as it appeared in the forum. No serial number on the web that I checked has any lists for Bach student horns. You might have to contact the parent company, Conn-Selmer, I believe for info. I have seen some tr300's in our local pawn shop for $200, of course attainable for less. I think you came out ok on the price relative to the condition of the horn as you report, course, the proof is in the playing.

You spent the equivalent of 5 months of rental at my local store to own her.

Not a bad deal at all. You did well.

Re: BACH TR300 Questions?

Since the trumpet that you bought is silver plated I think that you made out like a theif. You paid the price normally brought for lacquered brass TR300's. For some reason, the silver plated horns usually bring much higher prices than the lacquered brass horns.

Re: BACH TR300 Questions?

The leaderpipe is the only thing that might be a problem, but if you have played it, and it sounds OK, then you did great.

One of the guys in my section bought one of those used, and from what I've heard, it sounds and plays very well. As for helping you out with how old it is, it's really hard to tell.

What issues do you see with the leadpipe. I am curious. Is it something you see in the pictures?

Looks to me there are some spots of finish loss on the leadpipe for several inches past the receiver section. Can't tell what it is.
