| New Friend | Bach X Benge Hi, guys. I've recently purchased a Bach Stradivarius 37 (circa 1990) and was about to sell my other horn, a Benge Los Angeles 1972 MLP #5, since I'm not a professional player and wouldn't need both. But yesterday I was playing and decided to test them side by side. HOw surprised I am now: Bach is a great horn, but Benge has qualities wich my strad has not. Of course, Bach is a symphonic inclined trumpet, while Benge has a little bit more jazzy sound -and I am a jazzaholic. But my LA has a great sound, even in the low register notes, a big, fat and bright response with a nasty creamy sound, again, even in a low register F#. Strad has a little more response in high notes and, as it's in raw brass, has a little darker sound. It's different, and I think it's a good horn to play ballads and "clean" tunes. I really don't know: but I think I wont sell my benge no more. What do you think about? What's the better horn? Should I sell my Bach or my Benge? Sorry my poor english. Reinaldo Caruso - Brazil |

| Forte User | Keep them both and definitely DO NOT sell that Benge. It's an earlier LA Benge and is probably going to be a great playing trumpet. The Bach is going to have its place too. If you can manage, even if you don't play professionally or gig that much, keep them both. That's my advice. On second thought, that Benge is pretty much worthless. I'll give you $100 for it, out of the "kindness" of my heart. Just kidding. Keep them both if you can, but definitely the Benge. |

I saw and posted to your thread at TH too - seriously, hang on to that Benge. I don't know where or how you got it, but it's definitely a keeper.

I've purchased it of a guy who sells trumpets to churchs here and is a Bach lover. To give you an idea, he sold it for me for US$ 500 (HERE, IN BRAZIL, NO TAXES, DUTY FREE, EHEHEHEHE). He had a Blessing too, and that was more expansive than the benge. He has told me: "I don't know this trumpet so well". So I've went to the web to research about it and dated it. Sincerely, I've purchased it by accident, too, thinking it was some Bach TR300 level, a student level horn. Later, the guy told, me: "Do you know what I've sold to you?" It's too late now. Even today, theres a friend of him who wants to buy this horn.
