REAL trumpets, eh? My condolences! Jon Faddis and Dizzy were REAL jazz PLAYERS . . . I guess they didn't play "REAL" trumpets. If you aren't totally committed to that place, I'd recommend seeking another school. jAfter you find the other school, tell the Dean at the school paying this "instructor" why you chose to take your dollars elsewhere. A decent instructor can help you become a great player WITHOUT needing a certain maker to make the brass tubing you toot through. You are at a crossroads in your intellectual development, and must decide whether you have a brain of your own or whether you want to be molded into a clone of this clown, whoever he/she is. Tom | |

![]() | Re: The Best Bach For Jazz Playing I guess i said it a bit unclearly, he meant Real Trumpets as in Bach make some very nice trumpets, he did not critizise any other company, make or custom models. I did leave trumpet teaching at my school cause the teacher was rubbish, I have private lessons and my teacher is a geat jazz teacher. I also learn classical on the side, I love jazz i listen to 2 hrs of jazz at least a day and play for at least 40-50 mins. I need a good lead trumpet, and i have been reading reviews and im interested in Bach, Im sure theres someone here that might know, a good Bach for Jazz. I use a Bach Megatone 3c, and i have a lot of volume, air power. please help me lol |

![]() | Re: The Best Bach For Jazz Playing Ok my main question is - do i want bell with a good projectile, precise sound, or a bell with a bright sound but doesnt carry as far. I.e. 100ft from the stage, a bach S37 has been said to be good. |
