Re: Best Buy?

I am not sure what you are asking. Do you want someone to comment on the Suzuki? Or are you wanting to know the credibility of the seller?
I'd prefer a shaft drive Yamaha. I think it would probably play more in tune.

Re: Best Buy?

You could get a horn 10 times as good, used, for the same price on Ebay.

Re: Best Buy?

I wasn't really asking a question, was more of going along the lines of laughing at the fact that a electronics store has a musical instrument line lol.

I have heard the Suzuki flutes are actually not bad for beginners.

Re: Best Buy?

That's the same kinda deal with the Walmart line of instruments.
I'm from New Zealand, but when I worked a few contracts on the cruise-ships out of Miami, we were going to buy a bunch of those horns so that we could throw them in the pool from the upper-deck where we sometimes had to play.
Either that or just be rock-stars for minute and trash them.
We could never bring ourselves to do it, even to shoddy horns...but the thought was there

Actually, I think Suzuki is a line of instruments sold in many places. Some Costcos carry them too. Personally, what I think is even funnier is that a good portion of the Chinese stuff on Ebay is better than the Suzuki that is sold in stores in America. Besides, isn't Suzuki a car company?

Re: Best Buy?

One of my sixth grade band students bought a Suzuki trumpet in for me to try. It was built very well. The fit and finish were as good as any beginner King, Yamaha, or Holton. It played very dead, very little life to any note. It was also quite stuffy in the upper register(for a sixth grader). I don't know if this horn was an exception in sound, but they look well built.

Re: Best Buy?

Hi everyone,
I've seen those "First Act" things at BJ's and other big stores. They look attractive from a distance, then you pick them up... Once they break, they're broken. I was talking to a tech, and he was saying how they really can't be repaired. Who knows, though. Perhaps there are some decent ones out there...

Good Luck
