| Mezzo Piano User | Bf slides on a "C" trumpet? I noted that Bach offers Bf slides for it's C trumpets. Is this really a way to make the horn play in Bf? Does it work? Work well? If not, what does it do? Improve the C intonation-playing-tuning? I can't figure this one~ |

| For changing a C trumpet to Bb it will work, but from what I hear it won't work well. If you are talking about a Bb main tuning slide cut to fit a C trumpet, lots of guys use them. I think Bb slides come standard with the H pipe. |

| i tried them in my horn once. intonation was a nightmare, and the sound wasn't very good. they make nice pencil holders, and paper weights |

| New Friend | I've got Bb Slides for my Courtois C Trumpet. I use both without any major problems. |

| This year in orchestra I was using a "61 burbank Benge and the other player was using a Bach D trumpet with C slides he borrowed from the school. We were fighting pitch and blending issues all year long. Finally in time the last concert he got a Bach C trumpet with a 25A leadpipe. We were performing Dvorak's "New World Symphony" and most of the issues went away. He was playing 2nd for this concert and it was so easy to tune the octaves and the unisons were blended and so much easier to tune. Next year we'll have a new second player who will probably be using the D trumpet. I thought about buying another C, so we can blend better but I think my wife would kill me. |

| Had a set (4) of Bach Bb slides for my C. I bought them when I mainly played C and thought it would be a cheap bay to have a Bb Strad too. They don't work very well. You have the same C trumpet intonation issues, plus a few more, with a very bright sound. I sold them on eBay a month or two ago after letting them sit in the closet for 15 years. At least they appreciated in value! If you're talking about the Bb-style tuning slide for the C, it's supposed to help intonation. Don't have any personal experience with it, though. |

| I have a 1921 Conn 10A Vocal cornet with Bb and C slides. It plays quite well in both keys. However, I would hasten to add, it doesn't play like a modern instrument in either key. I think Conn did an admirable job of splitting the difference and sacrificing the same amount of performance in both keys to make a cornet that plays well in either. |
