martromba has a spectacular aura about
Bud's Monette to be auctioned off

For those of you who are interested, the Monette C Trumpet that Bud played in the 80's in the CSO is going to be auctioned off this Saturday at the Brass Buddies golf outing. The outingis a benefit for the Symphony of Oak Park and River Forest which Jay Friedman conducts. I don't believe there are any photos of this horn at the present time.

The following is the description that was given to me.

Large bore C, standard model, serial # 725, which is Bud's birthday.
His name is stamped on the valve casing, and the words "Dave Monette, Chicago Ill. This horn was played by Bud in the orchestra in the middle and late 80's.

If interested, you can contact Kirk who can give you more info on how to bid on this horn. His email is kirkl@sycamoreparkdistrict.com.

The contact info is in the quote, and here's a hyperlink to the pictures of the horn.

Man, is that an ugly horn
Wynton's early horns looked just like this.
I played about five of them at Wynton's place at the Piano Factory.....long before he moved to his Lincoln Center address. They played great, but they were UGLY.

Seems like they got quite a deal. You'd think a piece of memorabilia like this would go for a little more. I wonder how much one of the Mt. Vernon's would go for if one were ever auctioned off.
