Buescher Truetone model 210 information

Earlier today I introduced myself and my trumpet to the forum.

It is silver plated with what looks like gold plate inside the engraving on the bell. The inside of the bell is polished and plated with gold also. The body of the horn is a matte finish. S/N 277XXX. The horn has been very well used, but not abused. The valves are tight. The original case is another thing though! It appears that this case has taken it's trumpet around the world several times. Case condition is very poor. The case has the name of at least one of the trumpet's owners name on the outside. It has been painted over so that it is very difficult to read. I can make out: ART Na-----. The moutpiece also appears to be original, poor condition. Pliers were used to remove it at one time.

I read the posts about a Buescher trumpet posted back in 2004 that were not very helpful for me.

I now will ask the combined knowledge base for help.

My Buescher 210 needs some minor dents repaired. The rotary valve that is used for key changes (I assume) is frozen and the lever that rotated the valve is missing.

I did not spend much for this trumpet and would like to have the few problems it has rectified. This of course if the costs are not too expensive.

Is this horn worth repairing? Where should the work be performed? Or should I just polish it and display it with my mellophone?

Also, is it worth learning to play?

I have taken photographs to upload but they are so large they exceed the forum's size limit by at least 10 times. If I can teach myself to decrease their size I will include them in a later post.

Lots of words and questions, but like Mozart said, "...just the right amount."

Thanks

Stuart

If the valves are still tight, I would consider getting the dents taken out, and a good technician should be able to get the rotor working just fine with a minimum of shop time. The lever would be a bit trickier (and costlier) to get replaced.

(BTW, Mozart didn't like the trumpet.)

Thanks for the encouragement. I'm off to have the repairs evaluated this morning.
