Thumbs up Bundy strip

so... I'm back to using my middle school Bundy from 1977! (long story) and it appears I do not have a chance to win this NYTC contest, so....

rather than taking my Bundy to the repair shop for a little TLC I figured I'd try a little something something at home first!

Overall the horn is in good shape and I just thought it would look really good stripped than all shiny like old Bundy’s are... you know... student looking horns.

Anywho... I was searching the other forums and found some good information, but I just wanted some other opinions first.

So here are my questions... finally...
1.) Can I screw it up so bad that it can't be repaired?
2.) Should I use just something simple like Brasso or hard core like paint stripper?
3.) is there anything better to cost the brass after I'm done to keep it from tarnishing other than paste wax? Like a matte lacquer?
4.) or should I just suck it up and find a pro?

I'm a high school automotive teacher by day so I'm not afraid of getting dirty and can handle almost any chemical... but I'm also a minor perfectionist so I like my stuff to look good too!
