![]() | C trumpet (Again?) Hi Manny, Recently I've done so much C trumpet playing, it actually feels more comfortable than my Bb! Is this going to be a problem in the future? BTW happy lunar new year! From Singapore. Edric |

![]() | Re: C trumpet (Again?) Edric, Only if you have some significant Bb playing to do and lose your ear down a step. What pitch do you hear most easily in? Bb or C? I hear about the same in both probably leaning more towards concert pitch. ML |

![]() | Re: C trumpet (Again?) The problem is I'm now in music colledge(sp) and need to do my 1st year recital. I'm doing Guy Ropartz Andante and Allegro on the C trumpet and Hindermith on the Bb. We're require to play orchestra excerpts at the start of the exam, and I do that on the C. Switching around can be a problem for me. Edric |

![]() | Re: C trumpet (Again?) I'd like to chip in on this one. If its a real problem, you could consider playing the Hindemith on C, it works very well. I did this once when I played a recital, when my Bb and C played hugely different, I always ended up sounding flat on the Bb, plus I was fighting the Bb to get the same "zingy" sound. Nowadays its no problem and both sound the same, below are some things that helped. Get a Bb and a C that blow similarly, e.g. bach C 229, blows like a Bb 37, 239 C like a 43,,(my verdict) plus a slightly different mpc may help. Maybe something slightly smaller on the Bb, bigger on the C. Eg, if you play a 1 1/2c, try a warburton 3md on the C. this seems to help get a similar sound on both. If you're fighting the pitch on the C it could hinder your B playing. It's worth remembering and being concious that there will be some oppossing and some similar intonation issues. Obviously a "concert" C doesn't need to be pulled down on the Bb, so its worth remembering to blow the Bb "straighter" if that makes sense. |

![]() | Re: C trumpet (Again?) one thing i do is play the Bb every day even if the rest of the playing day is on the c or higher trumpets. i find i am a happier player when i warm up on the Bb and it keeps me in contact with it every day.
