| Piano User | Hey Felix, Sorry, I've been out of town and came home to like 400 unread posts I own (as you can tell from my signature) a Callet Jazz B-flat and Flugel. My B-flat (The picture on the left) is the most comfortable, and versatile horn I have ever played. It has the resistance that I like from my Bach, but blows like a big bore horn. There is nothing on this horn that you can't do. I absolutly love the third slide conversion (ring on the bottom). It makes it much more comfortable to play. Of course, when I say that this is the best horn I have ever played, I am not trying to say that everybody else's horn sucks. I love this horn. It is the horn for me. Now, my Callet was made before Jerry retired. So, I don't know how it compares to the new ones. My flugel was made in 96'. I bought it just a couple months ago. It is just as comfortable to play as my B-flat. Jerry designed these a little different, and I wasn't quite sure about it till I saw it. It looks like it's missing slides. Jerry wrapped the third valve slide around the bottom of the bell (it's kinda hard to imagine.). However goofy it may look, the little change makes it blow much more free. This another horn that you can do just about whatever you want to it and It resonds. IF you are ever in the San Antonio area, drop by and play em'. |

| Hi Never fear fellow trumpeters! The Callet trumpets are made to the same specifications as before and will soon come with optional main tuning slides which will help the great Jazz Bb to be even more adaptable to various playing conditions. As well as making the horn adaptable to an even wider range of players who play the larger and deeper mouthpieces. The EXPANDABORE concept is retained in an optional .460 to.466 size main tuning slide. This allows the Jazz to be throttled back in chamber music situations etc when the "punch" and "projection"of the conventional Callet Jazz might be too much for non-trumpeters ears or if you are trying to prevent drowning out a section of flugel sounding trumpets etc... | All my Callets are great horns! In tune, responsive, etc. New York Bb (.472) New York C, rose brass bell (.468) New York D/Eb, made by Kanstel (.460) Flugelhorn, 3-valve (.460) I had previously owned a Benge and 5 Bachs (3 Bb, 2 C), and these out-perform all of my former horns. They do take a little more exersion to get the sound started, especially at very soft levels. High stuff still has enough body to the sound that you can keep from sticking out in an ensemble (if you want to avoid that). |
