What do you mean, it prays like a Panda? But it's SHINEY and RED.
Like I said. It would have made a nice Christmas ornament if it had played.
It came with a 7C knockoff. The label was, "mouth of trumpet."

Re: Chinese Horn

Nice review. I always wanted to know how the

"Fair sound of the fine red exquisite tube" was put together.

Was it Band approved or certified ?

I especially like your idea of using red & green for Christmas decorations.

When I packed it this morning I saw an extra plastic bag at the bottom of the horn box. This tells me that this horn was sent back previously.
Lets hope it is never sent out again and ends up in metal recyling somewhere. I was going to make the quip that may if it was green it would have worked, making the analogy betweein Ohio State and Michigan State colors. Week before last we had the Alumni Marching band day in the downpour. I saw at least a half dozen trumpet players with bright green horns that apparently played. Some trombones, also. I asked one guy and he said he painted a cheap horn green with white bell opening and used it once a year.

Re: Chinese Horn

I very nearly made a rude post here TMers - but thankfully I have managed to restrain my boyish enthusiasm and so respect your sensitivities. Whew - that was close. (Thinks, I wonder which way the holes DO go?)

Re: Chinese Horn

My usual response is play before you play. In this case PRAY before you play may be more in order!

I won't even blame the Chinese for the quality of the horn. Thumb screws (or bamboo shoots under the fingernails) should go to the importer. They placed the order for horns without quality control, did not check the cheap stock before shifting it because they only had ONE GOAL - CHEAP PROFIT. If EVERYBODY would do what STCH did, they would learn their lesson where it hurts most.

I visited China a couple of years back. They built to order in 10 cent increments. an extra 10 cents wholesale gets one valve checked. By the time you get a real play tested horn, so many 10 cents have come together, that the horn is only "inexpensive" like an Andreas Eastman.

That horn would have been a project for super Brek!
