Conn cornet

I am looking into getting a cornet and found a conn for $100. It looks almost brand new with a serial number HF010229. Can anyone tell me about this type of cornet and if its nice. I looked around and think the F stands for 1980 model and the 1 is for cornet but thats all I could digg up. Thanks

You have the age figured out. What engraving is on it? Does it have the word "Director" stamped on the leader pipe, or some other number like 16B? Is it all brass or maybe have a copper bell? You can upload photos here from a site like Flickr, Photobucket, etc.

Re: Conn cornet

Thanks for the photos. It is a good quality student cornet of the time, a " Director" model .I think $100 is a fair price for one in that condition. I assume the slides are free and valves are in good shape.
Here is a little historical perspective. A Brief History of the Conn Company: Daniel Henkin Era The Conn company was in Lombard, Ill at the time.

I have one just like that and it is a great player. From the appearance, it is well worth the hundred bucks. I think you will enjoy it a lot.

Re: Conn cornet

With case it appears it would be $100 well spent and a good buy. The horn appears to be in good shape, too.
