COSTCO'S (Suzuki-Pro model trumpet?)

Just surfed across costco...and read that they have available The "Suzuke-Pro model trumpet for less that $900.00 bucks....

Has anyone tried one of these actually pretty (nice looking instruments?)
Bottom line of course:

How do the play-sound...n' where is the quality etc?

I have seen something similar at costco, it was a three pack of instruments, trumpet, violin, and clarinet. I assume they all play terribly.

Hey guys,
lighten up. This stuff was not meant to be played. It was designed to be hung on the wall to make non-musicians appear informed!

Spoken like a true-blue-n ENVUS trumpet manufacturer? :)
Years ago....I first ran across some Yamaha Student model 2330 cornets at Costco in the Federal Way Wa. store. They had them priced at $325.00.

That morning one of their store staff personell who I had met playing at one of his church musical programs...musician was demo'in' one of their eletronic piano gizzeee's' (can't remember the name)
He recognized me ...stopped playing and handed me one of those little Yamaha cornets for an inpromt' jam session...right there in the store.
(REALLY NICE $$$ FOR THOSE REALLY NICE PLAYING CORNETS)

After leaving that store...I stopped by Campus Music and bought some valve oil and told them about those Yamaha's at Costco. (They were really "ruffled by that price" being a local Yamaha dealer!!!!

I found out a few days later....that local music store manager drove out there to the Costco that same afternoon and...bought all 5 of those Yamaha cornets and resold them to Federal Way's highschool musical program director.

N' the beat goes on.....but SUZUKI???? They build great sport-bikes..but trumpets????? WHO KNOWS...BUT WHY BURN UM' WITH OUT TRYING THEM FIRST??? :)

It's the same Suzuki that makes cars / motorcycles etc? I'm not knocking that. Yamaha makes everything. I just didn't know they were in instruments now.

Re: COSTCO'S (Suzuki-Pro model trumpet?)

I looked at Costco's site and the the Suzuki trumpet. Sort of looks like a Strad Clone. There is a PDF brouchure about the company and the details of the instrument. Says they have made musical instruments since 1953 starting in Japan with plants there, Korea, China and the US. From all the features it looks like a decent starter horn, on par with a number of others. My Taiwanese Barrington is not an expensive horn, but is a pretty good one with no problems after almost 1 year of heavy playing. I can do as much and sound as good as I did on my Strad that I had for 22 yrs.. At $189.99 I think it would be worth a try for beginning students on a budget. Says it has a 2 yr warranty.

Re: COSTCO'S (Suzuki-Pro model trumpet?)

I have a sixth grade student whose parents got one on approval from the Suzuki web site. On paper, they look fine. When it arrived, it looked fine, well put together. When played, it was awful. Dead. No resonance, life, nothing. They sent it back and bought a used King 601 which is much better.

Re: COSTCO'S (Suzuki-Pro model trumpet?)

Just remember to keep your Costco receipt. Even if you have it for a few months or more, they're give you your money back. I used to work there. But, since we established it's crap, I guess it doesn't matter. Costco screwed me over so many times working there. I'm boycotting them for the rest of my life.
