Couesnon serial number

Folks

I am trying to put an approximate date on my flugel.

It's a Couesnon (Paris) SN# 683XX. I was told it was from the mid. 50's, but I'd like to be sure.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Paul,

My #78565 (model 140; N on 2nd valve casing) was made in 1978 or 1979... purchased new in 1979.

I would have assumed your horn was from the late '50's or 'early 60's, but I've seen serial numbers all over the place, including one purchased in 1974 with a number 8xxxx...

So, good luck getting a lock on your manufacturing date

Sorry I can't be more helpful.

You may have to list other identification clues, like does it have a model number on the valve casings, or on the mouthpiece reciever? Is there a STAR on the bell & other words besides Couesnon and Made in Paris....?

With more info, the group of us should be able to give you more insite...

Thanks,

Lead pipe has "Bb D11" on it.

There is no star on the bell

There is a "B" on 2nd valve casing.

I hope that helps.

Best,
PT
