Re: Dave Monette does it again!

It's the notes, not the horn. (Refering to taps.)

Re: Dave Monette does it again!

I wonder if Dave will come out with a complete line of "G" series mouthpieces now.

Re: Dave Monette does it again!

I think that it is a Bflat bugle. That is what the armed forces use. I think that they use Bach or Kanstul now. It sure beats that electronic mute that is inserted into the bell!

My bad! Ok, no new mouthpiece line, but I did learn something! Origins of the M1892 bugle, page 1

Re: Dave Monette does it again!

Great, here we go again...I wish we could all be more positive about stuff on here. I'm just waiting for the monette-bashing to start. Although I don't play Monette equipment anymore, I think we should all be more professional about voicing our opinions of this kind of thing (and the Elysian trumpet thing as well).

Louie,
I AM a proud Monette owner and can appreciate the work that goes into these things. I am interested to read more about the story behind this instrument!

Wow. Just unbelieveable. Monette, Harrelson, and Taylors are the way of the future... Just ask for a horn and they'll make it.

Re: Dave Monette does it again!

I think some people need a thicker skin. Dave Monette comes out with a boat anchor of a Bb decorated like something out of the golden age and now we have the most basic of horns. A Bugle... And in the picture the mouthpiece is probably worth more than most bugles being used in this country today.

I'm not a Monette basher. I'm a believer. (in some of his stuff ) Tried an old Bb a week ago and it was great. One of the best Bbs I have ever played and it was a Monette. But when anyone comes out with "different" stuff there is going to be a little heat.
