| The day after...Maryland Trumpet Day 2007 Here I sit after a day of teaching, tired, my back is killing me, and I cannot help but smile. The day after a show like the MTD is filled with mixed feelings. I am so happy I got to speak with so many friends again, but sad it was only for the day. Any event like this is stressful, makes you angry at times, but the reward of seeing kids and adults alike light up when guys like Tony Kadleck, Ray Vega, or John Blount talk is worth it. It is tough putting on about 25 miles of walking, but when you hear the National Symphony Orchestra Trumpet Section or the Faculty Brass from Shenandoah University, how can you stay away. At the end of the day you feel the fatigue, and then you hear Alan Baylocks Big Band warming up and get recharged. Needless to say, what a day. I hope all of you in attendance had a great time. I think the clinicians this year outdid themselves. To all of them I cannot give enough thanks. Our vendors room was filled with some of the coolest stuff around. We had variety and no one to my knowledge complained about noise. To all of the vendors and sponsors, again a big thank you. The concert that night was fantastic. Alans band kicked some butt and Tony Kadleck is one of the best I have heard. You will not find a more pure sound on a flugel, period. To those of you who could not attend, I hope you will keep an eye out for next years event. As long as you keep showing up, I'lll keep having Trumpet Days. I'll update the website soon with pics from this year. Again, Thank you all. Tony Domenico |
