![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | not really, it does change color though and because silver plate is very thin, it can be buffed off very easily. A good instrument repairman can keep the visible damage very low. |

| Fortissimo User | Experience... I had a silver plated Strad and I wanted a water key added to the third slide. The shop ordered in a silver plated Amado and silver soldered it onto the slide. The work was virtually invisible unless you were up close and knew where to look. |

| You can damage the silver plate if you put a LOT of heat on it. A good repairman can do solder work without damaging the silver at all. Really, a good repairman can solder a lacquered horn without damaging the lacquer at all. It is more challenging on a horn with air dry lacquer. If you are having something brazed then it could damage the silver finish. |
