Re: Don't read this if you play a Taylor!!!!!!!!!!!

A blowhard, and I don't mean on the trumpet. Anyone who would put so much energy into a negative review would be an absolute pain in the you-know-what to play with. Mr. Roberts is more of an Ensign Pulver. What a baby!

Re: Don't read this if you play a Taylor!!!!!!!!!!!

As far as I know, there is NO trumpets in the entire world that sounds like crap.

Even the TSO's doesn't sound like crap....

It is the person behind the trumpet that makes the trumpet sound like crap..

And no, I am not insulted.
I know Andy and his philosophy.
There is no crap involved.

Re: Don't read this if you play a Taylor!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow - illiterate (unless he really wanted to describe someone as being "sewed" for a failed suicide attempt) and unable to recognize art for what it is (Picasso is not just real art . . . but real good art). His criticisms were childish, poorly articulated and, frankly, inaccurate (Taylor trumpets are just fine). If this guy plays, composes and teaches as well as he reviews trumpets he might just be a good one to steer clear of.

Totally agree, everyone is entitled to opinions and everyone has preferences but this is an out and out attack. Petulant and down right nasty. The samples on this boys site speak for themselves I think. Andy Taylor is a great instrument maker in my opinion. I have a Taylor Chicago custom and I love it!

Read his biography - it's a masterpiece in youthful name-dropping. He might be technically proficient - even musical, but he sure isn't anyone I'd want to play along side. Shall we say "verrrrry young"?

That dude must grow up. Nothing good comes from taking a spit at a reputable instrument maker. I don't play a Taylor, but he has built some awesome instruments in the last years. The Vulcan stuff was made just to prove a point. And prove he did. Though I prefer his flugels over his trumpets (or at least those I had the opportunity to test few years ago, never got a cornet of his in my hands) the trumpets are well made.

Re: Don't read this if you play a Taylor!!!!!!!!!!!

I have met a number of YOUNG players like Matt. Funny thing is, I have never met an older player like him. Either they grow up and pull their heads out of their posteriors, or they suffocate and die. Nature's wonderful mechanism of selection at work!

At a recent Byron Stripling clinic, Byron offered that every young player preparing to leave college for the world of professional music should build a website to promote themselves. I don't think the Matt Roberts site is what Byron had in mind.

Re: Don't read this if you play a Taylor!!!!!!!!!!!

I've never had the pleasure of playing a Taylor but I've always read good things about them -- until Matt Roberts' blog post.

I did a bit of Googling. Matt who?

In this blog post he seemingly tries to run away from his previous childish outburst, claiming it was "satire" and "personal opinion".

Taylor Trumpets… Discuss — Matt Roberts Music

A word of advice for Matt. Before you demean another person's work you should realize there will be critics who feel the same way about yours. Consider this, maybe the problem was the player and not the horn.

Meh. The internet is full of all kinds of people. The original post is well over a year old, and andy Taylor seems to have addressed it directly with the author this past summer, so it's pretty much a dead issue...
