Eclipse Large Copper

After a little over a month of renting, and after 30 some years of having last put the trumpet down, I made enough progress to warrant purchasing a decent trumpet of my own. Strict commandment from the powers that be at home that I not spend any more money on instruments, I reached into the inventory and was able to work out a trade for my Gibson ES 335 for a Eclipse Large Copper Bb Trumpet.

I'll be getting it in a couple of weeks, but if anyone has any insights or has played this particular model Eclipse, I'd love to hear some feedback.

Re: Eclipse Large Copper

I'm not much on Guitars, but that seems like a very good trade to me. It happens to be the exact Eclipse I want! I can't wait to hear how you like the new horn! Congrats!

Re: Eclipse Large Copper

Bill,

You traded a guitar for a horn?

Well, it is difficult to play a horn and the guitar at the same time---takes two many fingers!

Sounds like you made a good deal!

Best wishes!

Plus I have a lot of guitars and the guy I traded with has a lot of trumpets. It is pretty much an even swap price wise.

Re: Eclipse Large Copper

How much was your Gibson guitar worth? I am just wondering because I just needed a little price comparison to answer a question I have. Well congratulations and have a fun time playing your new horn. Good Luck and Happy Playing!

I paid about $3,000 for the Gibson about 2 years ago at Rudy's in Manhattan.

Re: Eclipse Large Copper

Of the 12 Eclipses that I have owned, 2 of them were large copper.
It has the most awesome smokey warm jazzy sound imaginable, really rich and quite fun to play! Blends well with anything, and the only downside is a slight lack of feedback - resist the urge to overblow, believe me it's loud enough.
Congrats!
