Hi I was wondering if anyone has had any experiences with the Eclipse extra large heavy red bell model trumpet.

Hi, I playtested one for a week or so, for a norwegian dealer! It is heavy, and pretty big! I personally didn't like it! Fluffy sound!

What do you mean by fluffy?
Hmm, eh, not tututu, but fluffflufffluff..![]()

so really mellow, no sting/sizzle to the notes
Exactly! Probably a good jazz horn! I ended up with the MR, so I'm probably not the best person to evaluate big horns!

Are you happy with your medium red?
It's many years ago, but I liked it for some months! I found it to be very "dead"! No soul in the horn! But it worked great for lead!
Also, I don't like the tuning system on the horn! Feels heavy and clumsy!

Ok thanks for the info
I have an MR.....tried the LR and it was just too big for me. I can't imagine playing an XLR... but there are some monster players who I am sure would get anything you want out of it.
I find the Eclipse MR trumpet with interchangeable leadpipes to be very versatile....I think MR it is probably the most popular bell...... great sound...nothing fluffy about it unless you play it that way on purpose..... you know the "airy jazz" sound that Till Brönner gets. The Bauerfeind valves are the best and intonation is spot on. I have found an easier upper register....great for me!
Having a set of leadpipes does helps dial in the resistance and blow.......
Leigh is fantastic to work with and I have seen a lot of UK players using his horns in all manner of professional settings.....
