Edwards Gen X vs. Getzen Genisis 3003

Sorry about all of the posts about horn quality but im looking into a new horn and the music store in my town and the ones nearby have a poor selection of trumpets. So im trying to get feedback on horns that caught my eye.

Can anyone tell me the difference(s) between a Edwards Gen X and a Getzen Genisis 3003? Please and Thank you

Lets see, bells, valves, finish, weight, materials, bore size, I don't know really. Of course price, but then again you have monette listed as a brand of trumpet you play so... price must not be an issue for you.

Edwards is a division of getzen, so valves may be similar in quality. Look for online reviews of both horns they usually publish the specs.

Re: Edwards Gen X vs. Getzen Genisis 3003

The Getzen is basically "stock", the Edwards is "customized". With the Edwards, you need to try out and pick...the leadpipe and the bell configuration...and they are designed for interchangeability in the future, or for "different" venues. The Edwards does utilize a Getzen valve block, (and comes with that lifetime guarantee).

I have a Edwards Gen III in "C", and love it.

The people at either firm are great, but I know the Edwards gang will work with you in "fitting" you. Check out their website.

Just a comment about the Genesis - great look, fabulous intonation, and gorgeous DARK sound! However, s bit too dark for my needs. I absoulutely LOVED the one I tried, though! Very high-quality horn!

Flugelgirl pretty much nailed it. These are great horns that can be dark a mellow or you can peel the paint off of the back wall with them. I sure like mine.

Re: Edwards Gen X vs. Getzen Genisis 3003

Sorry Uapiper about the confusion i only play the mouthpieces not the horn ill fix that later. Price is definately an issue for me since im only in highschool with no job. I have read reviews on both and they say the exact same things both have great sound and intonation and can play with many different styles and colors. If the main difference between the two is that the Edwards is customizable and the Getzen is not as customizable i think my choice would be the Getzen.

One other question, I read some reviews about the Getzen Genisis and it said that all of the Edwards lead pipes fit the Getzen. Any truth to this?

Thanks for all of the help and info =]

Driplip,
If that's your horn in that pic, it's a real beauty! Brett and family really went all out with that model. The one I played was matte silver - also a looker! If I played nothing but jazz combo, I'd have grabbed it! I just couldn't get quite enough sizzle out of it for my purposes, but it's SUCH a nice axe! That was the only other horn I've played that came even close to my Raptor in intonation, which says a lot!
