I'm very aware of sister strains of that virus. There is one that keeps me wanting to buy more tube amps for my harmonicas. And the most powerful strain is the N+1 virus that keeps making new bicycles show up at my house. (The number of bicycles you should have is N+1, where N is the number of bicycles you have now).

I'll be happy to help him move up to a pro horn in about three years if he continues to be enthusiastic and to improve as much as I think he will. Beyond that, he'll have to support his own habit.

Re: Getzen 590S Capri questions

If you're considering dealing with Sam Ash, you might look into the Getzen 770 SP. From what I've heard on recordings, it seems to be a pretty good horn, and it's usually $800 or less.

yes thats very true , my 9 year old girl now wants a 26" bike ,
i want a base amp and guitar , my son wants a 22cal. rifle. this is our birthday month ! whats a dad to do .

your son will do fine , he has a great tool to work with !

my son is using a shilke 12 mouthpiece ,its what his instructor felt would give him a rounded sound.
we are getting a centerpitch to help , there is one other that i have seen but can not recall the brand ,later to day i can call our music shop for information and will post later today.

Chase Sanborn

MD, I have moved through the Getzen 700SP (a truly beautiful trumpet - nice and shiney with really good valves) which I passed to my neice (bought it new for US$595 from Check Levin's Washington Music Center (sic).

I have ATM a Getzen Eterna 900 (2nd hand 1973 model) and it is just "better" in every way than the 700 - I didn't believe the difference between a high end intermediate horn and it's Professional brother. If it is possible to overcome the Grandma imperative of a new horn (assuming she still wishes to be involved) then the well researched, personally tested Getzen in the Eterna 900 or 3000 range are a "purty fine horn" - among many fine horns - play before you pay. Having said that, I'm in the middle of purchasing a new Harrelson Bravura on-line (much discussion with the artisan) because I have been offered a great value hand built trumpet and I have caught the T+1 virus (T being the number of trumpets that are already owned).
