| Getzen Piccolo I just thought I'd take a moment to praise the new Getzen/Blackburn piccolo trumpet. I played one for the first time today at the Midwest Band Clinic in Chicago and it is much improved (as far as intonation) compared to the non Blackburn model. Although playing in a hall with hundreds of others trying out horns is not ideal, I was able to identify the superior intonation as compared to previous 940's I've played. Good job Getzen.......this one is on my short list. |

| Re: Getzen Piccolo I've recommended the 940S with a Blackburn leadpipe for years because it is such a good quality combination at a good price. I was very pleased at ITG this year when Getzen said that they had this pending arrangement with Blackburn to sell the horn in this configuration. This is an excellent example of two good companies working together to deliver a fine product. |

| Re: Getzen Piccolo My first piccolo was a Getzen. I was a senior in high school (1974), went to Giardenelli's in NYC with my older brother and tried them out. My private teacher was not too happy when I brought it back to my next lesson! He was a Selmer Paris pic guy. By the time I was a senior in college, I played principal trumpet in Bach's b minor Mass, Christmas Oratorio, Magnificat, and Handel's Messiah. With the Blackburn A pipe, it was wonderful. I now play on a Schilke P5-4 and a Schertzer rotary, but the Getzen served me well. |

| Re: Getzen Piccolo To the best of my knowledge, it is just the 940 that will receive the new pipe. There might be a Blackburn pipe available for the 3916 from Blackburn, but I don't think there has been a change with the 3916 from Getzen. Also, I do not know if all 940's shipping at this time are equipped with the Blackburn pipe....you would need to check directly with Getzen. |

![]() | Re: Getzen Piccolo I'm glad you liked the pic. It was a great idea for both of us to make this change. I have to admit, it was input from players here and on the Trumpet Herald that planted the seed in my head to do this. It just made sense. As of right now, there are no Blackburn pipes with the 3916. After the initial roll out of the 940 with them though we are going to look at having a set designed for the 3916 too. As far as I know, Cliff doesn't have a pipe for the 3916 right now either. From what I have been told, the Blackburn pipes are only going to ship with 940's that are newly ordered from us by our dealers. Any back orders we may have now or any in stock inventory that a dealer has won't come with the new pipes. In that case, they can be ordered from Cliff. We will only be selling the new pipes with the 940 or as replacements. Any other orders will have to go through Cliff. Brett Getzen |

| Re: Getzen Piccolo Are there any other manufacturers as big as Getzen who care as much about the little people like us as much as Brett does? Doubtful. Thanks for the brilliant service Brett, by you and Mary Rima. Don't have a Getzen horn right now sadly. If you have any just lying around I'll happily take them off your hands, will even burn down a few opposition factories for you....Wait, am I allowed to say that. Government is going to black ball me. |

![]() | Re: Getzen Piccolo Wait a sec. I don't consider anything I do as caring for the little people. If anything, you guys are above me. I'm just some dude trying to make and sell trumpets. You're the talented ones. Brett Getzen |
