Dan, please do send it in. As it stands now I am ready to fix it up for you. Just contact Mary Rima here to get an RA number and the directions for sending it back. Her email is maryrima@getzen.com.

Re: Gold Finish on Getzen Genesis

My horn was shipped today and is on it's way to be Re-plated with the new and improved Getzen Gold finish! I have a picture in my mind of Mr. Getzen covered in gold dust and sweat, busily working to catch up on back orders and warrenty repairs;his computer keys now covered in sloppy golded finger prints as he happily responds to e-mails and threads... "Yes, we're back in the Gold Plating Business!" Well, I'm happy for you and wish you well. Hey, (FYI) your Customer Service Rep. that took my call for the RA# was very professional and polite and reflected well on your company.

Sooo....

My next post will be a final post were I will happily show pictures of my Genesis in all it's "gleaming newness" and then we can end this tired thread. Thanks again.

Re: Gold Finish on Getzen Genesis

Let us know if you will plate non-Getzen horns and mouth pieces.

I promise I won't send hubcaps or valve covers.

10-4 Brett. Good Luck. I'll look over the cornets at ITG.

Re: Gold Finish on Getzen Genesis

Sorry, we won't be plating anything other than Getzen horns. There are just too many things that could potentially go wrong there. Besides that, we just don't have the time. Likewise, we won't be plating any existing Getzen instruments. For right now at least we are only doing our own warranty returns and new horn production.

Re: Gold Finish on Getzen Genesis

I know Edwards is an "offspring" of Getzen (so to speak)... do they do their own gold plating as well, or do they send it off to Anderson's?

Re: Gold Finish on Getzen Genesis

Nope, the Edwards plating is done in house here. Very good for them considering how popular gold is as an Edwards finish.

Re: Gold Finish on Getzen Genesis

Actually not. Gold has been a popular option on Edwards for a while. Somehow, they managed to not suffer the plating problems we did. The best we can figure it that since their horns were plated as components (i.e. bells, valve sections, slides, etc...) the plating was thicker and more uniform. This is because, as it is explained to me, the size of the item being plated in relation to the tank size has a dramatic effect on how the plating forms on the surface. That's why, while they would fit in our current tank, we don't gold plate trombone bells here. They are just too big for the ratio of solution to surface area to work in our favor.
